Guide

Amateur radio: pass the examination, obtain an operator certificate and select a Canadian call sign

Choose the qualification, prepare with the official question bank, use an accredited examiner and manage the record online.

Priority

An operator certificate does not permit every frequency, power level or device. Follow the privileges of your qualification and installation rules.

Choose the qualification

Most people begin with Basic. Check the additional privileges tied to honours standing, Morse qualification or Advanced.

Study the material

Use the official question bank and cover regulations, electrical and RF safety, propagation, antennas and operating procedure.

Take the examination

Find an accredited examiner and confirm identity, language, delivery method and possible fees. Ask how the result will be sent to ISED.

Manage the call sign

After passing, track call-sign assignment and keep contact details current in the official service. Use the proper service for a reprint or change.
