Questionable firewood delivery quantity: measure and complain
Keep the ad and invoice, measure stacked wood and dispute an inaccurately sold quantity.
Do not enter beneath a dump body or climb a pile. Wait until the wood is unloaded and stacked safely before measuring.
Read the unit sold
Keep the ad, stated unit, species, log length, price, fees and promises. Expressions such as “cord” can be ambiguous without dimensions.
Measure after stacking
Measure the length, height and depth of the neatly stacked pile without counting large voids. Photograph the pile and measurements with a visible reference.
Notify the seller
Present the calculation, request correction or additional delivery and keep the response. Do not mix the new wood into an older pile before documenting it.
File a complaint
Measurement Canada explains legal units and accepts complaints about firewood quantity. Provide the ad, invoice, dimensions, photos and seller information.
