Quebec publisher: complete legal deposit of a digital publication with BAnQ
Check whether the publication is covered, create the deposit, provide the file and metadata, then keep the acknowledgement.
An ISBN or ISSN does not automatically complete legal deposit. The obligation, copies and channel depend on format and publication type.
Identify the publication
Distinguish an ebook, serial, website or other released content. Record the publisher, place and date of publication and formats available to the public.
Check the duty
Use BAnQ criteria for digital works and, if a print version also exists, separately check the rules that apply to it.
Prepare the deposit
Gather the final file without blocking protection, cover, title, creators, language, date, identifiers and publisher contact details.
Submit and archive
Use the BAnQ service, correct requested metadata and retain the acknowledgement, exact deposited version and date.
