Organic products for interprovincial or international trade: prepare Canadian certification
Check first
An organic label claim must comply with the applicable regime. The CFIA accredits the bodies that certify products.
Confirm the right process
Determine the Canada Organic Regime’s scope for the products, activities and markets involved, including labelling rules.
Prepare the dossier
Choose a certification body accredited for the relevant scope and request its application and assessment requirements.
Submit the application
Document the organic production system, ingredients, suppliers, traceability and practices; complete the requested assessments.
Follow up
Check the certificate’s scope before using claims or the logo; maintain records and report product or process changes.
