Quebec Emergency Alert on Your Phone: Receive, Understand and Act

Check alert reception conditions, act safely and distinguish an official message.

Follow the official message

Safely stop what you are doing, read the complete alert and follow instructions. Do not call 911 merely to confirm an alert.

Reception conditions

Alerts are sent to compatible phones connected to an LTE network. Reception depends on the device, connection and targeted area; not receiving one does not prove there is no danger.

Read before sharing

Check the area, threat, time and requested actions. Use official links and accounts instead of a partial social-media screenshot.

While travelling

If driving, stop only in a safe place before reading. Do not block an evacuation route or travel toward the area to observe.

After the message

Monitor updates and the end of the alert. Keep a radio, light and charging options because cellular alerts are only one communication channel.
