Invasive Alien Species in Quebec: Document and Report with Sentinelle
Photograph an observation, record its location without spreading the species and submit a useful Sentinelle report.
Create a useful observation
Take several clear photos: the whole organism, identifying details and surrounding habitat. Record the date, coordinates or precise location, approximate number, habitat and how it was observed. Do not publish someone else's private address.
Check without forcing identification
Compare the observation with official Sentinelle fact sheets. When several species look alike, submit the photos and state your uncertainty. A well-documented observation is more useful than a guessed name.
Limit spread
After an outing, remove mud, plants and organisms from boots, tools, boats, trailers and gear. Drain water only where permitted and follow rules for the waterbody. Never release an aquarium animal, plant or live bait into nature.
Report
Use the free Sentinelle tool to submit the observation. For an immediate danger, significant mortality, infrastructure impact or an issue on municipal land, also contact the authority responsible for the site.
