Aeronautical radio: obtain the Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification (ROC-A)
Study the guide, find an accredited examiner, pass the exam and retain the information needed for a reprint.
The ROC-A authorizes aeronautical-band radio operation; it does not replace a pilot licence or an aircraft or drone operating authorization.
Confirm the need
The certificate is intended for pilots, drone operators, ground personnel and others using aeronautical radio. Also confirm employer or school requirements.
Prepare for the exam
Study RIC-21, the phonetic alphabet, message priorities, distress calls and communication procedures.
Find an examiner
Use the official accredited-examiner search and confirm fees, language, format and identification before the appointment.
Keep the certificate details
After passing, verify the mailing address and retain the serial number and proof. Those details help with account creation and reprint requests.
