Québec written heritage: contributing to the BAnQ project on Wikisource
Choose an available work and compare its transcription with the facsimile before publishing corrections.
Check rights and project instructions before adding a new work; an old book is not automatically unrestricted.
Choose a project work
The project brings together Québec and French-American heritage works for transcription and verification. Choose an available task rather than creating a duplicate. [1]
Check the available activity
Historical workshop information does not establish that a session is currently offered. Independent contribution is separate from an event; verify any schedule separately. [1]
Compare with the facsimile
The Page namespace pairs transcription with a reference image. Compare them carefully and use project conventions for typography rather than freely rewriting the original text. [2]
Review and seek help
Preview the correction before publishing and use the associated discussion for difficulties. Keep changes focused so another contributor can review them easily. [2]
