Bookstore accreditation in Québec: application and follow-up

Choose the bookstore category, prepare a di@pason application and organize annual reporting.

Check before acting

Accreditation applies to a specific establishment; a new branch is not automatically covered.

Choose the category

Distinguish French-language, English-language and specialized bookstores. Check the ownership, sales and inventory requirements for your category. [1]

Assemble the application

Gather the evidence requested in the current form. Submit the application and attachments through di@pason and keep a copy. [1]

Follow the review

Allow for inspection and requests for clarification. Wait for the decision and certificate before describing the bookstore as accredited. [1]

Plan annual reporting

Plan the report for each accredited establishment within six months of the financial year-end. Assign someone to maintain the records and deadline calendar; the ministry does not have to send a reminder. [2]
