Importing live animals, hatching eggs or animal germplasm: request the CFIA permit

Check import requirements for the commodity, origin, destination and use; confirm whether a permit is required.

Prepare the dossier

Gather animal or material identification, exporter, recipient, premises, route and requested health documentation.

Submit the application

Submit the appropriate request through My CFIA and pay applicable fees; clarify restrictions with the Agency before shipment.

Follow up

Await issuance and share the conditions with the exporter; meet certification, inspection, quarantine and validity requirements.
