The Agency’s certificate of fitness and Transport Canada’s operating certificate are distinct and both may be required.

Confirm the scope

Determine whether the company is a federal railway or a local company operating equipment on federal track.

Prepare the information

Describe network, services, equipment, staff, interfaces, commodities and intended start date.

Complete the process

Gather the safety management system, rules, related certificates, insurance and executive attestations.

Keep follow-up records

File the form, await the certificate and timely report acquisition, transfer, change or cessation.
