Unresolved Canada Post complaint: prepare an appeal to the Ombudsman’s office
First obtain a closed service ticket, gather mailing and value evidence, then explain the disputed decision and the fair outcome sought.
The Ombudsman is an appeal body: Canada Post must have investigated and closed the service ticket. For theft in progress or opened mail, also notify police.
Complete the first complaint
Open a customer-service ticket, provide tracking information and wait for the final decision. Keep the ticket number and closure date.
Confirm who may appeal
For a lost or damaged item, the sender generally files the appeal. Check time limits and eligibility for the postal product involved.
Build the evidence
Attach proof of mailing, label, tracking, proof of value, photos, correspondence and decision. Describe the contents of a lost item precisely.
State the requested outcome
Explain why the policy may have been applied unreasonably or unfairly and what outcome you seek. Keep the confirmation and appeal number.
