Commercial aquatic farming project: identify and apply for required Quebec permits
Describe species, site, water and facilities, check provincial and federal jurisdiction, then obtain each authorization before operating.
A commercial permit does not replace environmental, land, municipal, health, introduction or federal authorizations that apply to the site and species.
Define the project
Specify species, life stage, volume, facilities, water source and discharge, feed, biosecurity, transport and market.
Map the authorities
Check MAPAQ, environment, municipality, landowner, DFO, CFIA and navigation requirements based on fresh water, marine setting and animal movements.
Prepare plans
Attach location, occupancy rights, technical plans, water quality, effluent, mortalities, escape prevention and required qualifications.
Obtain before operating
File each application in the right order, await decisions, record conditions and dates, then plan logs, inspections and renewals.
