Guide
RCMP member conduct or interaction: complain to the civilian review commission
Confirm the RCMP is involved, preserve identity and evidence, file promptly and request civilian review if the response is unsatisfactory.
Priority
For an emergency, threat or crime in progress, call police. A civilian complaint is not an immediate-response request or a damages action.
Confirm the scope
Confirm the police service, member or detachment; municipal police, the SQ and border officers use other mechanisms.
Prepare the information
Record date, place, names, badge numbers, vehicle, witnesses, injuries, care, video and exact words without altering originals.
Complete the process
File with the Commission or RCMP within the applicable period and explain any delay.
Keep follow-up records
Read the RCMP response and use the review request if you dispute the investigation or findings.
