Protect people, use the shipping document and emergency guide, determine required reports and preserve data for the 30-day follow-up.
Move away, avoid ignition sources and call 911 for immediate danger. Do not touch, smell or attempt to contain an unknown product without training.
Trigger emergency response
Secure the area within your training, give the UN number and shipping document to responders and contact CANUTEC when instructions require it.
Determine the report type
Part 8 separates emergency, release or anticipated release, loss or theft, unlawful interference and other reports. Thresholds depend on class and quantity.
Collect data
Record date, time, place, transport mode, container, UN number, quantity, circumstances, damage, evacuation and agencies notified. Do not delay an immediate report to complete every detail.
Complete follow-up
Check whether a 30-day follow-up report is required. Keep the shipping document, photos, response reports, communications and corrective actions.
