National amateur sport association: apply for CRA registration
Distinguish an RCAAA from a local club and prepare access to the CRA application.
A local or provincial club does not qualify for this national status merely by organizing competitions.
Check national scope
The association must be established and resident in Canada and devote its resources to its exclusive purpose and function of promoting amateur sport nationally. [1]
Prepare account access
Obtain the business number and provisional RR account needed for My Business Account. An authorized representative can use Represent a Client. [1]
Use the right form
Use the RCAAA application identified by the CRA. T1189 is also available as a fillable PDF to download and open in a compatible reader; check the applicable submission channel. [2]
Review the answers
Check the application against the form’s questions, retain submitted evidence and contact the CRA if an alternate format is needed. Completing a form is not a registration decision. [2]
