Sale, gift, legacy or transfer of classified heritage property: give notice or obtain required authorization

Classify the property, buyer and transaction, follow pre-emption and notice rules, seek authorization where required and retain proof.

Priority

An offer, deed or physical delivery must not bypass a pre-emption right or prior authorization. Inform the notary at the outset.

Confirm the scope

Identify status, property type, address, owner, buyer, residence or head office and exact transfer form.

Distinguish sale notice enabling pre-emption from prior authorization for certain outside persons or entities.

Gather the offer, price, conditions, descriptions, photographs, contacts, timeline and proof of ownership.

Submit to the regional office, await the required periods and add the decision to the notarial record.
