Mission Monarch: helping monitor breeding habitat

The mission involves observation; it does not authorize capturing or moving monarchs.
Prepare participation
Create an account and read the protocol before going out. The program collects breeding-habitat observations through repeated visits during summer. [1]
Use the field sheets
The kit contains the field form and identification sheets for monarchs, milkweed and similar species. Keep them accessible to avoid confusing observations. [2]
Describe the site and observations
Use the form to retain a consistent description and visit results. Consult identification sheets when unsure rather than turning uncertainty into a confident identification. [2]
Report absences too
A survey finding no monarchs remains useful. Submit the actual result and return as availability and the protocol allow, without trying to manufacture a positive observation. [1]
