CSIS or CSE activity or security-clearance denial: assess a complaint to NSIRA

Identify the organization and authority involved, complete required first steps, file facts securely and respect confidentiality.

Priority

Do not send classified or protected information by ordinary email. Ask NSIRA’s Registry which secure channel to use before sending sensitive material.

Confirm the scope

Distinguish complaints about CSIS or CSE, a denied or revoked security clearance and decisions by another institution.

Prepare the information

Check prerequisites such as an agency response or elapsed period, then record each date and file number.

Complete the process

Explain the decision, activity, harm and requested outcome with available unclassified records and the location of other evidence.

Keep follow-up records

Use the Registry channel, keep confirmation and follow directions on hearings, confidentiality, translation and representation.
