Opening a private college: preparing the ETAPE permit application
Prepare access, programs and resource evidence before the application deadline.
A permit application does not authorize presenting the institution as already approved to offer a DEC or AEC.
Plan the submission date
The application is due no later than September 1 before the planned opening school year. Prepare the schedule well before this deadline. [2]
Obtain ETAPE access
Request ETAPE access using the prescribed form and board resolution. Follow college-sector instructions; forms and supporting documents must be in French. [1]
Demonstrate resources
Prepare requested programs and evidence of staffing, facilities and financial resources. Align teachers, premises and budgets with the proposed educational services. [1]
Check regulatory fees
Consult the current regulation for payable fees. Follow ministry payment instructions rather than attaching an outdated amount to the file. [2]
