Radio or television program: document the content and complain through the correct channel
Identify the station, date, time and segment, write to the broadcaster when required, then send a precise complaint to the CRTC.
A complaint must concern content actually broadcast and give enough detail to locate the recording. Disagreement with an opinion alone does not establish a breach.
Identify the broadcast
Record the station or service, frequency or channel, title, date, time, time zone, exact segment, people and relevant words. Keep a lawfully obtained recording.
State the issue
Factually explain the rule or obligation potentially involved: content, accessibility, advertising, standards or another broadcasting issue.
Write to the broadcaster
Use its complaint service or the relevant self-regulatory body and keep the reply and number. Some matters are referred or require this first step.
Contact the CRTC
Provide contact details, enough broadcast information and correspondence. File promptly while the program recording is still available.
