Guide

Becoming a qualified customs broker officer: register for the annual professional examination

Confirm eligibility, watch the annual window, file L55 and fee, prepare identity and logistics, then retain the result.

Priority

Passing the examination does not issue a licence or authorize independent brokerage. It is a condition tied to a licensee’s qualified officer.

Confirm the scope

Confirm citizenship or permanent residence, age, good character and intended role with an applicant or licensee.

Prepare the information

Monitor the annual notice, deadline, location or format, language, accommodation and permitted materials.

Complete the process

Complete L55, attach payment and records, retain proof of registration and verify received instructions.

Keep follow-up records

Present required identification, follow examination rules and keep the result for a future licence application.
