Guide
New pest control product: prepare federal registration before manufacture, import or sale
Define the product and uses, request consultation, build the scientific and regulatory package, then manage fees and deficiencies.
Priority
A natural, low-risk or foreign-marketed product is not automatically exempt. Do not manufacture, import or sell without verified Canadian status.
Confirm the scope
Define formulation, active ingredient, product type, target organisms, sites, methods and proposed label.
Prepare the information
Check exemptions, equivalence and application category and use pre-submission consultation to confirm data needs.
Complete the process
Prepare studies, risk assessments, value, chemistry, exposure, residues and standardized electronic files.
Keep follow-up records
Submit, pay, answer requests and await the registration number and conditions before marketing.
