Four documents to have ready
Opening an account goes through the Quebec government authentication service (clicSEQUR). Have your health insurance number, social insurance number, a Revenu Quebec notice of assessment from one of the last two years, and the reference number on your licence or health card. A security code is then sent by email or post.

Go to the SAAQ online services, choose account creation, accept the identity transfer, enter the numbers exactly as printed, then enter the security code. Check afterwards that your address, email and phone are correct: that email receives payment notices.
What SAAQclic does online
Licences (check validity, renew and pay, replace, renounce a class), registration and vehicles (renew and pay, replace a plate, order a personalised plate, store, unstore, scrap, winter tyre exemption, ownership history), driving record and points, health status (self-declaration, medical report, extension request), appointments (theory and road tests, Alcofrein session), address change and banking details.
What still needs a service point
Transactions requiring in-person identity verification, a photo, the handover of a document, some ownership transfers and complex files. Start online, and read the refusal message to the end: it usually says what to bring.
