DFO commercial fishing licences: using the online licensing system
Create a profile, act for the correct holder, pay fees and retrieve fishing documents.
An online account does not grant fishing rights; licences and their conditions remain controlling.
Create the correct access
Follow DFO registration instructions and create your profile. The system supports individuals, representatives and organizations; select the relationship you are actually authorized to use. [1]
Manage representation
Have the representative formally designated in the system. Avoid sharing the holder’s credentials: delegation connects transactions to the correct person or organization. [2]
Complete the transaction
Select fees for the relevant licence, vessel or registration. Special services, including certain transfers, require an application whose status can be tracked. [1]
Retrieve the conditions
Download or print available licences, conditions and receipts. Check that the document matches the intended activity; a payment receipt alone does not describe fishing conditions. [2]
