Seriously ill animal with no suitable treatment: a veterinarian may request emergency access to an unapproved drug

Priority

The owner cannot apply directly. The veterinarian must confirm supply, and authorization permits neither promotion nor use outside its conditions.

Confirm the scope

Document the animal or group, serious condition, failed, unavailable or unsuitable treatments and clinical urgency.

Prepare the information

Confirm the drug, quantity, importer and supply with the manufacturer and gather dosing, rationale, risks and food-animal details.

Complete the process

The veterinarian completes and signs the request and fee forms and sends them to the Directorate as instructed.

Keep follow-up records

Await the letter, follow quantity and conditions and retain clinical follow-up, transaction and mandatory reporting records.
