Becoming a CoCoRaHS observer in Québec: station, training and reports
Prepare a measurement station and follow the precipitation network’s shared protocol.
Volunteer collection does not replace official weather warnings or justify going outside in dangerous conditions.
Understand the contribution
The network brings together volunteers measuring local precipitation. Reports help capture variation between locations that may be very close together. [1]
Check required equipment
Registration requires a network-approved rain gauge and training. Check acceptable models before purchasing; not every personal weather station qualifies. [2]
Complete training
Consult available modules, including French versions. Learn the protocol for the precipitation type before submitting measurements comparable with other stations. [3]
Set a realistic routine
Declare the station location, units and a consistent reading time. Check that the instrument matches the units selected in the account. [2]
