Contributing to eBird Québec: preparing a useful checklist
Choose the correct protocol, define the outing and honestly indicate checklist completeness.
Observe without disturbing birds or entering property without permission.
Choose the portal
QuébecOiseaux coordinates the Québec portal with Birds Canada. Use eBird to retain observations and contribute to a database used for research and conservation. [1]
Define the outing
A checklist corresponds to one date, a coherent location and a protocol. Separate observations across days or areas and accurately describe any travel. [2]
Declare completeness
A complete checklist includes every species identified to the best of your ability without deliberate omissions. It does not require identifying every bird present. [3]
Document records
Add useful detail for unusual observations and respond to reviewer requests. Correct uncertain identifications rather than maintaining an unsupported certainty. [1]
